120/240V Input and Output Configuration
The MultiPlus offers flexible input and output voltage configurations to accommodate various power sources and loads:
- 120/240V split-phase input and output
- 120V single-phase input and output
- When in inverter mode, the output is always 120V
AC Input and Output Functionality
- The MultiPlus can be supplied from a 120/240V split-phase or 120V single-phase source
- When an AC source is available, the MultiPlus feeds through the AC to its output, mirroring the input
- The inverter/charger connects to the neutral and preferred input line (L1) for battery charging
- If no AC source is available, the MultiPlus switches to inverter operation, providing 120V single-phase output
- In inverter mode, the MultiPlus connects both output lines (L1 and L2) to supply 120VAC to loads on either line
- 240V loads are only supplied when the MultiPlus is connected to a split-phase AC source to prevent battery discharge
PowerControl and PowerAssist
PowerControl and PowerAssist are innovative features that optimize the use of available power sources:
- PowerControl allows you to set a maximum current for the grid or generator, preventing overloading
- The MultiPlus uses any extra power for battery charging after considering other AC loads
- PowerAssist takes PowerControl further by compensating for insufficient generator, shore, or grid power using battery power
- When the load reduces, spare power is used to recharge the battery (available on L1 input only)
Dual AC Outputs
The MultiPlus offers two AC outputs for added flexibility:
- The main output provides uninterrupted power supply to connected 120V loads during grid failures or when shore/generator power is disconnected
- The transfer time for the L1 output is less than 18ms, ensuring minimal disruption to computers and electronic equipment
- The second (auxiliary) output is live only when AC is available on the MultiPlus input, suitable for loads that should not discharge the battery
- The L2 output has a longer transfer time of approximately 40ms
Scalability through Parallel and Three-Phase Operation
The MultiPlus can be configured for increased power output and multi-phase setups:
- Up to 6 MultiPlus units can operate in parallel for higher power output
- Three units of the same model can be configured for three-phase output
- In multi-phase setups, L2 is disabled on all units
System Configuration, Monitoring, and Control
The MultiPlus offers various options for on-site and remote configuration, monitoring, and control:
- On-site configuration using VEConfigure software (requires computer/laptop and MK3-USB interface)
- Monitoring and control options include Cerbo GX, Color Control GX, Venus GX, CANvu GX, laptop, computer, Bluetooth (with optional VE.Bus Smart dongle), Battery Monitor, and Digital Multi Control Panel
- Remote configuration and monitoring via the Victron Remote Management (VRM) website when connected to the internet through a Cerbo GX or other GX product
- Operational data can be stored and displayed on the VRM website free of charge
- Remote access and settings changes are possible when connected to the internet
